The title is something everyone knows. It shows what the poem is all about, and everyone can understand it.

  3. My favorite poem this week is Carrots by Lorna Crozier. This poem shows the true life of a carrot while using decorative language. The best first line is "Carrots are fucking the earth."

  4. The best title out of all of them is Beer. The whole poem concentrates on how beer has "helped" him with his problems. Its funny on how he depends on beer but at the same time SAD (sarcastic).

The best first line is "these hips are big "hips, with out reading the title you automatically know what the poem is going to be about.

  5. The poem that has the best tittle is homage to my hips. It tells the reader that the poet is very confident about her hips. I feel like this same poem has the best first line because it is a very strong statement to start of with.

  7. Homage to My Hips is the best title in my opinion. It sounds like something i would love to read when someone is honest about their body. The poem with the best first line is Carrots, although I hate carrots the first sentence along with the poem had me blown away with the personification of the carrot.

  8. Schizophrenia
The title is based on a subject that people are well aware of but sometimes do not feel comfortable discussing. So its nice that its introduced in a poem, I also like the first line because it grabbed my attention and kept me interested in reading it

  10. The poem that i think has the best title is, Carrots.I think this title is the best because it gives the readers an idea of what the poem is about before we even read it. The poem with the best first line is, "It was the house that suffered most" because as readers the first line is almost like a cliff hanger and it makes me want to read the poem. -Maria Stefanidis

  11. The poem with the best title to me is "Schizophrenia". It seems to suit the poem just right!
I also like the first line of Schizophrenia, that poem automatically reels you in to the story as soon as it begins and through out the reading you understand it because it even goes into details, gives you details and seals it with the matching ending.

  12. Schizophrenia was the best title because unlike the other titles... I didn't know what to expect. Every other title was very simply and to the point. Schizophrenia wasn't about schizophrenia... it seemed to be more about what the author experienced as a feeling of schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is defined as having a split mind...where as the author used it in context as a split house.

"Carrots are fucking the earth" was by far my favorite line because I thought it was really original. The author set a very comical tone and it drew me in.

  13. The poem schizophrenia has the best 1st line.the first line is strong, it lets you know that not only the person/people with the disease is suffering. They take their anger and frustrations out on the house. the vandalizing of the house basically shows the effects of schizophrenia in an individual who is suffering from it

Beer has the best first line because it makes me think about the stupid choices that Human's make. "I don't know how many bottle's of Beer...." You chose to drink and yet you don't remember how many? It speaks to me in a way that none of the other Poems did. The foolish choices of Man.

  15. In my opinion, I think that "Beer" is a great title. I believe so because it is straight forward and it explains and gives details about what the poem is going to be about. The first line was also a good way to start off the poem, "I don't know how many bottles of beer" If you are a drinker, who counts how much you really drink. There in the first line the poet tells the readers the type of person they are.

The best title of the poem that i really like best is homage to My Hips. The reason why i like this poem is because it tells the reader that a woman is not ashamed of her hips or her body and that she doesn't care what people think of her and her hips. I think that is her only special thing in her life which she praises.

  17. Homage to My Hips had the best title. When I first read the title it made me feel like the poem was going to talk about appreciation and a sense of pride. Carrots had the best first line "carrots are fucking." Seeing a first line like this makes you want to read the poem

  19. "In a Station of the Metro"
I feel that this title defines the poem. Without the title thoughts will have less meaning; and ultimately, the reader will be lost. It provides that missing link between the thoughts which helps the reader to relate to the overall picture being depicted.

"It was the house that suffered most."
I feel that this line does a great job of drawing the reader in. It makes you wonder whether they are speaking of people who reside within the house, or if they are speaking of the house itself, in a surreal manner.

  20. The Red Wheelbarrow I think is the best title because it makes the reader question why the wheelbarrow is red? and what the poem is about?
the best line for me is "it was the house that suffered most", because the poet try to call the reader's attention.
