What do you think leaves a stronger impact on a viewer: a poem or a painting? Defend your answer. Compare and contrast the visual arts with the written word. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each medium?

Pick any of the poets we have studied this semester and look up his or her biographical information on the internet. Do not use Wikipedia. Try the following sites first. Summarize what you read, and post it on your blog. Do not cut and past the information directly from the site.

Write a poem about your poet, elaborating on one of the interesting stories from his or her life.
