What is the relationship between poetry and beauty? Must good poetry be beautiful? How do you define beauty? Is there any objective way to define beauty? Provide a two sentence definition of beauty, emphasizing the relationship between poetry and beauty.
I don't think that beauty can be objective because no one person feels or thinks the same about any one thing. If we take the sunset for example, I can describe it as beautiful, whereas someone else can see the dark nature of it. Poetry doesn't have to be beautiful and I feel that matters least because poetry is an expression of OUR perceptions, not societal definitions of beauty.
ReplyDeleteBeauty in poetry is expression without the bounds of appealing to a specific standard. Beauty is a poetic and subjective freedom.
